Fangda Carbon, Kaifeng Carbon, and Jilin Carbon are China’s three leading graphite electrodes manufacturers. In 2018, due to a sharp rise in the graphite electrodes prices and a surge in market demand, all the three companies have recorded an increase in profits of more than 50% y-o-y on basis.

According to sources, Fangda Carbon’s subsidiary Rongguang Carbon Co. Ltd is set to build a new graphite electrodes (GE) plant with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per year.

SteelMint has reported that last week China’s graphite electrodes prices surged by RMB 3,000 to 20,000 (USD 438 – 2,920/MT) varying with the size. However, sources have informed that the GE prices in China have increased further by RMB 2,000 to 10,000/MT (USD 292 – 1,460/MT).
