Iranian speakers at this two-day conference included the head of Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization, Mehdi Karbasian; Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh; former parliament speaker, Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri; the head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways Company, Saeed Mohammadzadeh; and the head of Iran Mercantile Exchange, Hamed Soltani-Nejad.

Managing director of Spain’s Sarralle group Javier Esquiroz; CEO of Italy’s Danieli Group Gianpietro Benedetti; the head of Germany’s SMS Group, Burkhard Dahmen; CEO of Austria’s INTECO, Harald Holzgruber; and Turkish Steel Exporters Association’s market analyst, Cihan Akedniz, were among the notable foreign participants.

Minister of Industries, Mines and Trade said: “we should move toward production of specific type of steel and alloy steel.”

According to Nematzade,at the present time total steel production of the world are 1.6 billion tonnes and Iran’s share is one percent so it’s easy to duplicate this share ,but achievement to 10 percent of total worlds production requires competition in competitive market.

Member of Expediency Discernment Council said: Iran plans to export 20-25 million tonnes steel in 2025 outlook and it requires production of standard and high quality products.

Ali Akbar Nateq-Nouri invited foreign and domestic investors, suppliers of raw materials and producers to benefit from opportunities were by lifting the sanctions against Iran.

During the conference, chairman of the board of IMIDRO noted that balance in steel supply chain was one of the main objects during the last 4 years and said: “fortunately, as the results of efforts were made by Industry, Mine and Trade and IMIDRO, new concentrate and pelletizing plants were constructed or are in utilization phase.

Karbasian expressed that by the end of the 11th government this aim will be realized by inauguration and operation of these projects including: Jalalabad hematite iron ore beneficiation with production capacity of 600 thousand tonnes, Gole gohar pelletizing plants(5 million tonnes production capacity) and two pelletizing plants in Sangan (each one with 5 million tonnes of production capacity).
