TPPH makes contracts with knowledge-based firms on power plant parts manufacturing

Iran’s Thermal Power Plants Holding Company (TPPH) concluded contracts for the implementation of 31 mega projects for domestic manufacturing of power plants equipment and parts with the Iranian knowledge-based companies in the past Iranian calendar year 1401 (ended on March 20), and official with the company announced.

Ali Isapour, the director-general of the company’s office of technology and domestic production, put the value of the mentioned contracts at 6.432 trillion rials (about $14.2 billion) and said the projects are being implemented.

These projects are in the field of improving power generation efficiency, increasing security and resilience, domestic production and self-sufficiency in the water and electricity industry, developing the use of artificial intelligence, reducing network losses, and smartening in the water and electricity industry, the official explained.

Referring to the signing of contracts with 155 knowledge-based companies for the manufacturing of strategic and sanctioned parts of power plants, he said in the last five years, this company has manufactured more than 724,000 parts of power plants by the knowledge-based complexes in order to make maximum use of the domestic production capacity.

As previously announced by Esmaeil Namazi, the director-general of TPPH’s technical office for production, Iran’s thermal power plants’ electricity generation capacity increased by 1,035 megawatts (MW) in the past Iranian calendar year.

The official said during the year 1401, in addition to the construction of new power plant units, the thermal power industry had put on the agenda the program of increasing the power generation capacity of the existing power plants by 1,035 MW, which was achieved on time with the non-stop activities of the power industry workers.

Last year, the capacity of 286 power plants in the country increased by about 1,035 megawatts with the implementation of plans to increase the generation capacity of gas and combined cycle units and remove the limitation of thermal power plants, the official added.

Over two-thirds of Iran’s thermal power plants are owned and operated by the country’s private sector and private owners are currently generating nearly 67 percent of Iran’s thermal power.
