Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director of Exploration and Mineral Development of the National Copper Company announced:

9% growth in geological resources and 22% growth in exploration drilling at the National Copper Company

me-metals: Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director of Exploration and Mineral Development of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company announced a 22% increase in drilling and a new record for the country's deepest exploration borehole this year (Iranian Solar Year).

According to me-metals cited by Mes Press, Shahryar Motavakkel, referring to the six-month performance report of this field, said: The total designable resources (measured and identified) of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company at the 0.15 percent copper assay threshold have increased by more than 13 percent during 2024 and the first six months of 1404 (March-September 2025), from 14.2 billion tons to 16.1 billion tons.

He added: "As a result of the exploratory drilling carried out over the past year and a half, the geological resources (measured, identified, and inferred) of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company have reached the threshold of 0.15 percent copper, with a growth of about 9 percent from 20.4 billion tons to 22.2 billion tons."

Regarding the status of exploratory drilling operations, Motavakkel stated: A total of 313,495 meters of exploratory drilling operations were carried out in the first six months of 1404 (March-September 2025), which represents a 22 percent increase compared to the same period last year (end of Shahrivar 1403 (March-September 2024), 256,202 meters) and a 25 percent increase compared to the projected plan.

He pointed out that 500,000 meters of exploration drilling has been targeted for this year (Iranian Solar Year), and said: "Development, modernization, and improvement of the drilling fleet are on the agenda, and so far 95 drilling rigs have been deployed in various sites in the country. It is worth noting that if new exploration areas are not made available to this company, the growing trend will decrease from next year (Iranian Solar Year)."

According to him, one of the most important recent achievements is the setting of a new record for the deepest exploration borehole in the country. In June 2025, a borehole was drilled at the Midouk Copper Mine with a depth of more than 2,200 meters, surpassing the previous record of more than 2,100 meters at the Sarcheshmeh Copper Mine (May 2025). It is noted that these drillings are promising for the existence of suitable resources and reserves in the depths of the Midouk Mine, in such a way that the average grade of copper and associated elements also increases with increasing depth.

The Deputy Director of Mineral Exploration and Development of the National Copper Company concluded by stating: "These successes reflect the serious determination of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company to develop mineral exploration and strengthen the infrastructure of this strategic sector."
