Realization of 2025-2026 drilling program and recording the highest number of exploratory drillings in the country

me-metals: By crossing the 500,000-meter mark of exploratory core drilling, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) achieved its drilling plan for 2025-2026 and recorded the highest exploratory drilling statistics in the country.

According to me-metals cited by Mes Press, Shahryar Motavakkel, member of the board of directors and deputy director of exploration and mineral development at the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), while congratulating the Shabaniyeh and Milad holidays of the only savior of humanity, the Holy 12th Shia Imam (AJ), and the days of the Fajr decade, announced: "By divine power and the efforts of young specialists, skilled engineers, and hard-working contractors in this field, the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) succeeded in crossing the 500,000-meter mark of exploration core drilling and recording the highest number of exploration drilling at the national level, in the mines and areas of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO), and realizing the exploration plan for 2025-2026."

Announcing this news, he said: The amount of exploration drilling in the same period last year was 442,555 meters and in the whole of 2024-2025, it was 478,609 meters. With the realization of exploration drilling programs in the last two years, the geological resources of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) have also increased significantly.

Motavakkel added: "Based on the results obtained, the total mineral reserves (measured and indicated M+I at a grade threshold of 0.15 percent copper) have increased by 18.3 percent during the years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 from 14.2 billion tons to 16.8 billion tons with an average grade of 0.41 percent (forty-one hundredths of a percent). Also, the total geological resources (measured, indicated and inferred M+I+I) have increased by 8.7 percent during the same period from 20.4 billion tons to 22.2 billion tons."

Member of the Board of Directors and Deputy Director of Exploration and Mineral Development of the National Iranian Copper Industries Company (NICICO) concluded by stating: "The realization of exploration programs and the simultaneous improvement of geological reserves and resources is a strategic step towards increasing the country's mineral reserves and establishing the position of the Iranian copper industry in the long-term horizons of the country's economic development."
