Iran Minister Slams US Venezuela Oil Sanctions

Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Zangeneh on Tuesday condemned the US sanctions against Venezuela’s state-run oil company.

“We condemn the US move against Venezuela. Nonetheless, these actions have affected the oil market,” Zangeneh told a press conference.

US sanctions announced last Monday on Venezuelan oil companies are likely to cause Maduro economic woes. Washington also handed over the controls of Venezuelan accounts in US banks to Guaido.

Taking control of oil revenues --- the basis of Venezuela’s economy --- from Maduro and giving it to Guaido, and the decision to sanction oil companies, is the boldest US move so far to raise pressure on Maduro.
