World Crude Steel Output Increases by 4% in May’19

According to the recent data released by World Steel Association (WSA) total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries increased by 4% to 162.74 MnT in May’19 as compared to 156.82 MnT in Apr’19.

Meanwhile on yearly premise world steel output increased by 5.4% in May’19 in comparison to 154.46 MnT in May’18.

However in first five months of (Jan-May) CY’19 world steel output stands at 764.07 MnT, registering an increase of 5% against 727.51 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

SteelMint has analyzed world’s crude steel production numbers of major steel producing countries -

China’s crude steel output rise by 5% M-o-M in May’19- China crude steel output increase by 5% to 89.09 MnT in May’19 against 85.03 MnT in Apr’19.

However on yearly premise the same moved up by 10% in May’19 in comparison to 81.01 MnT in May’18.

In first five months (Jan-May) of CY’19 nation’s crude steel output rose by 10% to 404.87 MnT which was 367.43 MnT in Jan-May’18.

India's crude steel output up by 5% M-o-M in May’19- As per WSA (World Steel Association) India’s crude steel output moved up by 5% to 9.19 MnT in May’19 against 8.78 MnT in the preceding month.

However on yearly basis the same increases by 5% in May’19 against 8.75 MnT in May’18.

In first five months (Jan-May) of CY19 nation’s crude steel output inch up by 1% to 45.31 MnT as against 44.81 MnT in Jan-May’18.

Japan’s crude steel output remain stable in May’19- Japan crude steel output stood at 8.67 MnT in May’19 as compared to 8.64 MnT in the previous month.

However on yearly basis the same slid down by 5% in May’19 in comparison to 9.09 MnT in May’18.

In first five months (Jan-May) of CY’19 nation’s crude steel output moved up 4.3% to 42.29 MnT which was 44.21 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

United States crude steel output up by 3% M-o-M in May’19- USA crude steel output stood at 7.65 MnT in May’19, up by 3% against 7.42 MnT in previous month.

On yearly premise the same registered an increase of 5.4% in May’19 as compared to 7.26 MnT in May’18.

In first five months (Jan-May) of CY’19 nation’s crude steel output up by 6% at 37.16 MnT against 35.00 MnT in Jan-May’18.

Crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in May’19 is as follows Russia: 5.95 MnT, South Korea: 6.37 MnT, Germany at 3.47 MnT, Turkey 3.06 MnT and Brazil: 2.75 MnT and Iran is 2.23 MnT.
