Iranian Airline Establishes New Direct Routes with Rome, Shenzhen

Mahan Air, Iran’s first and largest private airline, has launched two new direct flight routes between Tehran and the Italian capital city of Rome and the Chinese city of Shenzhen, a top official at Imam Khomeini Airport City Company (IKAC) announced.

“Mahan Air started a weekly direct flight to the capital city of Italy as well as to Shenzhen, a major city in Guangdong province of China,” General Manager of Airport Operation Farouk Alikani said on Sunday.

The airline is currently flying from Imam Khomeini Airport to Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou added Alikani.

IKIA provides flights to 64 destinations in over 30 countries. The Int’l Airport’s Terminal 1 has been active since 2007.

Last month, Omani airline “SalamAir”, in a ceremony participated by Iranian Ambassador to Muscat Mohammadreza Nouri Shahroudi, celebrated the launch of its new flight route connecting Tehran to the capital city of the Arab country.

Back in February, Iranian and Omani officials had celebrated establishment of direct flights between Iran’s Persian Gulf Island of Qeshm and Omani capital city of Muscat.

Early in June, Direct flights between Iran and Tajikistan were resumed officially, with Iranian airliner Varesh's flight from the holy city of Mashhad, in Northeastern Iran, to Tajik capital city of Dushanbe.

Late in April, Director General of Airports of Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province Kamal Parhizkar told FNA that the first direct flight from Urmia, the capital city of West Azerbaijan Province, to Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG)'s capital city of Erbil will be soon established
