Terms of the sale, which officially closed on 31 October, were not released.

The acquisition of Glickman Metal in Wichita, Kansas, a subsidiary of Yaffe Companies, adds a shredder to Allmetal Recycling's operational footprint, Clint Cornejo, partner at Allmetal, told Argus.

Allmetal will supply the shredder with material generated from its four feeder yards in the region. Allmetal already processes and sells prime and cut grades of ferrous scrap.

"Through acquisitions and organic growth we've had the volumes to support a shredder and this happened to be a good acquisition [with] perfect timing," Cornejo said.

The acquisition also strengthens Allmetal's position in aerospace in an area that generates a large amount of aero-grade aluminum and titanium scrap.

"Wichita is a very aluminum-rich town," Cornejo said. "There's lots of aerospace manufacturing here. We have a strong foothold now with this; it gives us the majority of business in town."
