Sangan’s Monthly Mining Activities Increased to 6.5 MT by Arrival of New Mining Machineries

Mining activities of Sangan Mining Complex increased from 4.5 million tons to 6.5 million tons per month by arrival of new mining machinerie

According to the report of public relations of IMIDRO, the mining activities of Sangan Mining Complex increased from 4.5 million tons to 6.5 million tons per month by arrival of 40 trucks with capacity of 65 tons and five high powered excavators.

Elimination of barriers and problems is necessary to attract investors in the region. In this regard, all relevant officials should cooperate for achieving the goals, Yaghoub Ali Nazari, the governor of Razavi Khorasan Province announced at the equipment operation ceremony.


By arrival of these machines to the Sangan Khaf Iron Ore Complex, the mining activities increased to 6.5 million tons. Moreover, the iron ore extraction capacity will rise by 67 percent to 3.2 million tons per month. Thus, supplying the feed for concentrate and pelletizing plants will accelerated, Hassan Jafari, CEO of Sangan Khaf Iron Ore Complex said.

He mentioned the goals of supplying the machinery and equipment for Sangan Khaf Iron Ore Complex such as quantitative and qualitative increase of iron ore extraction and tailings, complete equipping of machines and guaranteeing the supply the feed of concentrate and pelletizing plants in the region.

Sangan Khaf iron ore mine as one of the largest iron ore mines in the world, supplies raw material for the production of 17.5 million tons of concentrate, 15 million tons of pellets and 5 million tons of iron ore in Iran.

Sangan deposits, contain 30% of the country’s iron ore reserves with an area of 22km length and 10km width. The complex is located in 300km southeast of Mashhad city, 40km southeast of Khaf and 18 km north east of Sangan in the southeast of Razavi Khorasan and near the Afghanistan border.
