It could even emerge in the spot polymer market as early as January with limited volumes moved within southeast Asia.

Pengerang is a joint venture between Petronas and Saudi Arabia's state-owned Saudi Aramco. It can produce 750,000 t/yr of polyethylene and 900,000 t/yr of polypropylene.

Southeast Asia is seeing significant polymer expansions this and next year, with new production capacity in neighbouring Indonesia and Vietnam.
